I wanted to have an image as my footer, rather than text, so I made this in photoshop, sliced it up, open it in dreamweaver and set it up so that my links were correct and I posted it in my Wordpress Footer. My problem is that it shows up properly in dreamweaver, but it looks messed up in Wordpress itself... Can anyone help me to fix this? Thanks!

Hi,

I have my "+" menu (at the bottom of spun theme by default) set to be open by default with this code:

#secondary {
display: block;
}

This works well, but when the area is 'open' there is a plus and when it is 'closed' a minus is displayed. This doesn't make sense and I would like to switch when the + is displayed and when the - is displayed. Can someone tell me what I would need to put in my custom CSS editor to make that happen? Thanks!

1. Like I said above using the footer widgets will make this possible. You can style the look and minimize the padding. Just add three text widgets and add each of your items to it. For example in footer column 1 add:

<p>&copy; [2014] </p>

in footer column 2 add:

<div class="footernav clearfix">
<ul id="menu-menu2" class="footermenu">
<li  class="menu-home"><a href="http://patkaitourism.com/wordpress/?page_id=99">HOME</a></li>
<li  class="menu-about-us"><a href="http://patkaitourism.com/wordpress/?page_id=454">About Us</a></li>
<li  class="menu-contact-us"><a href="http://patkaitourism.com/wordpress/?page_id=457">Contact Us</a></li>
</ul>
</div>

In footer column three add:

<div class="footernav clearfix">
<ul id="menu-menu2" class="footermenu">
<li  class="menu-facebook"><a href="http://facebook.com"><i class='icon-2x icon-facebook '></i><span class='fa-hidden'>Facebook</span></a></li>
<li  class="menu-youtube"><a href="http://youtube.com"><i class='icon-2x icon-youtube '></i><span class='fa-hidden'>YouTube</span></a></li>
<li  class="menu-google"><a href="http://plus.google.com"><i class='icon-2x icon-google-plus '></i><span class='fa-hidden'>Google+</span></a></li>
<li  class="menu-tumblr"><a href="http://tumblr.com"><i class='icon-2x icon-tumblr '></i><span class='fa-hidden'>Tumblr</span></a></li>
</ul>
</div>

Then let me know and I'll post the css to make that look good.

2. You added custom css that is throwing off your layout, you should not style framework tags.. remove:

.span6 {
width: 100%;
}

3. Just add this to your custom css:

.home .contentclass {
padding-top: 0px;
}

and remove the blank line above your slider shortcode.

Last thing, any reason you haven't updated?

Context Canada on "[Plugin: My Weather] Plugin modified footer"

I recently added your plugin to a site. I then noticed that there was a problem with a slider that was on the site, as it had stopped working. One image was visible but there was slider effect.Upon further investigation it was determined that the footer for the child theme was missing 2 closing elements. The footer file showed that it had been modified the same day that I installed your plugin.Is it possible that the plugin modified the footer file? In addition, when WP is set to WP Debug the following code shows up.
'Notice: Undefined index: state in patchesthunderbeach.ca/wp-content/plugins/my-weather/my_weather.php on line 280

Notice: Undefined index: state_name in patchesthunderbeach.ca/wp-content/plugins/my-weather/my_weather.php on line 282'
Thought you might be interested in this.

No need to create any new widget areas.

Just tested my approach and it seems to work for me.

I've set up 3 Footer Text Widgets (Left-Center-Right)

Added some <p> text to each and styled it.

Edited the center footer and added

<h4>Let this stretch over the whole footer please! *****************************************************************************************</h4>

Repositioned it using:

footer#footer h4 {
position:relative;
top: 60px;
left: -100%;
}

You'll need to make adjustments to suit yourself.

Hi, just now I have updated :-)
url-- mys site

After editing, the following happened..

1.Added the three footer widgets,But I am unable to get the css to make them aligned in a line.

2.Solved, removed the code mentioned by you.

3.Added the code to remove the space above the slider. That worked fine with localhost, no space.But when I used the code in the live site, there stil exists little space. I inspected with google chrome dev tool and found a <p>...</P>. But there is no space in the page while editing.I even replaced the whole theme folder from localhost.Doesn't work.

Is there a way to remove the footer from pages without also removing it from posts? Thanks.

Hi,

use a conditional tag - http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags

go to your footer.php, and wrap the things you want to exclude from Pages with below code.

<?php if ( ! is_page() ) {?>

things you want to exclude...

<?php }?>

hope that helps!

1. solved... I have changed the following code

old code--

[class*="span"] {
float: none;
margin-left: 20px;
min-height: 1px;
}

new code--

[class*="span"] {
float: left;
margin-left: auto;
min-height: 1px;
}

And it is working. Is it the right code or I just somehow did it :)

1. What do you mean by one line? the only thing that is large are your icons, which I assume you meant to have that large. so you can add this to even them out a bit.

#containerfooter {
line-height: 36px;
}

3. Have you checked the page in text mode, made sure there is not a p tag around your shortcode, that would cause this.

No do not edit span code you should not be editing framework css tags

webizone on "[Theme: Virtue] alligning the footer menu"

sorry..I should not have done that.

1. I added this code--

#containerfooter {
line-height: 36px;
}

the resulting page is my site

3. I have checked the page in text mode, no p tag.

this is in your css and it should not be:

[class*="span"] {
float: none;
margin-left: 20px;
min-height: 1px;
}

You should not adjust framework css or you break the site.

3. well you can always add this:

.home .eps {
margin-top: -10px;
}
